• The NPP’s chief Conrad Sangma is again made the Chief Minister of Meghalaya state. He will be serving as the 13th CM this time.
• Besides him, several other ministers took the oath to serve in the cabinet at the ceremony held in Shillong.

• The Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan presented the 8th National Photography Awards.
• During this event, a total of 13 awards including one Lifetime Achievement Award have been bestowed.

• Manik Saha takes oath as Tripura CM for the second time.
• The oath ceremony took place at Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala.
• Chief Minister Manik Saha won from the Town Bardowali constituency in Tripura, defeating his nearest rival of the Congress by over 12,00 votes.

• Salhoutuonuo Kruse is the first woman MLA elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
• She took oath in Shillong as the Nagaland Minister in the presence of PM Modi.
• The all-party government is formed in Nagaland under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio of NDDP.
• Salhoutuonuo Kruse defeated independent candidate Kenizhakho Nkharo from the West Angami seat.
• Besides Kruse, another NDPP candidate Hekani Jakhlu from the Dimapur-III constituency also won the elections.
• Kruse completed his pre-university in 1986 from Kohima College.

• The armed forces have opened up command appointments for women officers following a Supreme Court verdict.
• In the first command appointment for a woman officer in the Indian Air Force (IAF), Group Captain Shaliza Dhami has been selected to take over the command of a frontline combat unit in the Western sector.
• Group Captain Dhami was commissioned in 2003 as a Helicopter pilot and has over 2,800 hours of flying experience.
• Shaliza Dhami is a qualified flying instructor, she has served as Flight Commander of a Helicopter Unit in the Western sector.
• This is for the first time in the history of the IAF that a woman has been selected as the Commanding Officer of a missile squadron near the Pakistan border.
• Shaliza Dhami was born in Ludhiana, Punjab and she has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics and Communication.

• Indian Navy successfully undertook MRSAM (Medium Range Surface to Air Missile) firing from INS Visakhapatnam on 7 March 2023.
• MRSAM is jointly developed by DRDO & IAI & produced at BDL.
• MSRAM is a high response, quick reaction, vertically launched supersonic missile, designed to neutralize enemy aerial threats – missiles, aircraft, guided bombs, helicopters. 
• The MRSAM weapon system which is also called the ‘Abhra’ Weapon System is a state-of-the-art medium-range air defence weapon system.

• In Kerala, the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram celebrated one of the largest gathering of women in the world on 7 March 2023, for the “Attukal Pongala”.
• The ritual had made it to the Guinness Book of World Records in 2009 for being the largest religious gathering of women on a single day when 2.5 million took part in it.
• Attukal temple is also called the “women’s Sabarimala”.

• BSE and UN Women India launched a new programme, ‘FinEMPOWER’, at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on 6 March 2023.
• It is a year-long joint capacity-building programme between BSE and UN Women to empower women towards financial security.
• BSE and UN Women India also collaboratively organised the ‘Ring the Bell for Gender Equality ceremony.
• The MD and CEO of BSE, Mr. Sundararaman Ramamurthy, along with Ms. Susan Ferguson, Country Representative of UN Women India, jointly rang the bell for gender equality.
