• Savlon Swasth India on 6 March 2023, announced Sachin Tendulkar as the World’s First ‘Hand Ambassador’ to inspire billions to wash their hands.
• The campaign features a series of films featuring Sachin Tendulkar’s Hand as their chief protagonist – bringing the importance of hand hygiene to everyone’s notice.
• Started in 2016, the Savlon Swasth India Mission program is run by ITC Limited.
• Savlon Swasth India Mission has initiated various initiatives over the years like the Savlon Healthy Hands Chalk Sticks, Savlon ID Guard and the recent #NoHandUnwashed campaign to educate and encourage good hygiene habits.

• Supreme Court Judge Justice V. Ramasubramanian on 5 March 2023, released a book titled India’s Struggle for Independence – Gandhian Era.
• The book is authored by P. Jyothimani, former Judge, of Madras High Court, and G. Balan, former professor of history, at Pachiayappa’s College, Tamil Nadu
• The book covers aspects such as the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi as of the date.

• Tiruchirappalli International Airport is rated the best in the Asia Pacific region, as per ASQ Awards 2022 announced by the Airports Council International (ACI) on 6 Mar’23.
• It has been adjudged the best airport in the Asia-Pacific category of under-2 million passengers.
• Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey is the world-renowned global benchmarking program measuring passengers’ satisfaction. 
• ACI is an independent agency that carries out international benchmarking of airports through its participative program known as the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey measuring passengers’ satisfaction across 32 key performance indicators.

ANS : A 

• The first Joint Military Exercise FRINJEX-23 between Indian Army and French Army will be conducted at Pangode Military Station, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala on the 7th and 8th March 2023.
• The exercise is aimed at enhancing cooperation between both forces at tactical level.
• Thiruvananthapuram based Indian Army troops and French 6th Light Armoured Brigade are participating in the exercise.

• It is for the first time that the armies of both nations will engage in this format.

• The Joint exercise will further cement defence cooperation with France which is a key aspect of the overall Indo-France strategic partnership

• Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 6 March 2023, launched the Mission ‘Har Payment Digital’ on the occasion of Digital Payments Awareness Week (DPAW) 2023.
• This is part of RBI’s initiative to make every person in India a user of digital payments.
• The campaign theme is “Digital Payment Apnao, Auron ko bhi Sikhao” (Adopt digital payments and Also teach others).
• The central bank will launch “Har Payment Digital” (HPD) mission that would run till the period of Vision 2025
• The intention is to convert the non-users into users of digital payments.
• Vision 2025 has its theme as “E-Payments for Everyone, Everywhere and Everytime”.
• Further, payment system operators will adopt 75 villages across the country to convert them into digital payment enabled villages.

• Sanjiva Shankar Dubey took charge as the 28th Controller General of Accounts (CGA) on 6 March 2023.
• He is a 1989-batch Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS) officer.
• Prior to taking charge as the CGA, Shri Dubey was the Additional Controller General of Accounts, Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
• CGA is ‘the Principal Advisor’ on Accounting matters to the Union Government.

• Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel presented the budget for the next financial year in the state assembly on 6 March 2023.
• Unemployment allowance of 2500 rupees will be given to unemployed youth aged 18 to 35 years, whose annual family income is less than 2.5 lakh rupees.
• The allowance of Anganwadi workers has been increased from 6500 to 10 thousand.
• The Budget session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly began on March 1, with Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan’s address.

• The 22 Grand Slam titles edged ahead of Steffi Graf’s all-time record despite losing in the Dubai semi-finals to Daniil Medvedev. 
• Carlos Alcaraz was at second, followed by Stefanos Tsitsipas.
• The Russian Daniil Medvedev ended Djokovic’s 20-match win streak and perfect start to 2023 before claiming his third title in as many weeks with defeat of compatriot Andrey Rublev in Dubai.

• Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the four year Bachelor Science Degree in Electronic Systems at IIT Madras on  March 2023.
• The new BS in Electronic Systems course will be delivered online.
• Unlike other undergraduate courses offered by the institute, candidates can take admission to this one without appearing in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
• This is the second online BSc programme launched by IIT-Madras following the Bachelor of Science Degree in Data Science and Applications.
