• Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on 26 Feb 2023, inaugurated the North East India’s first-ever compressed biogas plant project at Sonapur in Kamrup district of Assam.
• The plant will have a production capacity of five tonne-per-day of compressed biogas that would be produced from raw materials such as cattle-dung, municipal solid wastes, etc.

• It is being set-up by entrepreneurs Pankaj Gogoi and Rakesh Doley under the banner of Redlemon Technologies.

• The plant is proposed to be operational from November 2023.

• Union MoS Science & Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh on 25 Feb 2023, inaugurated the ‘International Biotech Conclave’ in Imphal, Manipur.
• It was held along with the 22nd Congress of the International Society for Ethno-pharmacology and the 10th Congress of the Society for Ethno-pharmacology.
• The theme for the conclave was “Reimagine Ethnopharmacology: Globalisation of Traditional Medicine”.
• For the first time since Independence, North East Region is organizing an International Conference on Biotechnology. 
• IBSD has taken this initiative for the development of bio-resources and traditional healer’s practices of this region.

• The first meeting of the W20 (Women 20) under India’s G20 presidency will be held at Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra on 27-28 February 2023.
• ‘Pursuit of Gender Equality, Equity and Dignity for Women-led Development’ is the theme of the meeting.
• W20 (Women 20) is an official engagement group under the G20 which was  established during the Turkish presidency in 2015.
• Its primary objective is to ensure that gender considerations are mainstreamed into G20 discussions and translated into the G20 Leaders’ Declaration.
• W20 India took over the presidency from W20 Indonesia on 12 December 2022.

• The Crown Prince of Denmark Frederik André Henrik Christian and Crown Princess, Mary Elizabeth arrived in India on 26 Feb’23 on a four-day visit.

• Indian Greco-Roman wrestler Ankit Gulia won a bronze medal in the men’s 72kg category in the Ibrahim Moustafa ranking series in Alexandria, Egypt on 26 Feb 2023.
• He won the medal after Iran’s Mohammadreza Abdolhamid Geraei withdrew from the bronze medal match due to an injury.
• Wrestler Reetika also won a bronze medal in the women’s 72kg category at the Ibrahim Moustafa ranking series.

• In a first in Kerala, a life-like mechanical elephant was dedicated to the deity in a temple in Kerala for performing daily rituals.
• People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India joined hands with award-winning actor Parvathy Thiruvothu, and held the ‘Nadayiruthal’ ceremony of ‘Irinjadappilly Raman’, a robotic elephant, at Irinjadappilly Sree Krishna Temple.

• Raman will help conduct ceremonies at the temple in a safe and cruelty-free manner and thereby supporting real elephants’ rehabilitation and lives in forests and end the horror of captivity for them.

• The Karnataka Government will build the country’s first Marina or a boat basin offering dockage, at Byndoor in Udupi district to promote coastal tourism in Karnataka.

• The development of the Anjanadri Betta is on.
• A scheme has been chalked out to pay a monthly honorarium of Rs 5000 to the recognized tourist guides and even more, facilities will be provided to them from the government side.
